Get Started with Tscribe
in Under 2 Minutes

Step-by-step instructions to install, configure, and start transcribing your audio offline on macOS.

System Requirements

Tscribe is engineered specifically for macOS to maximize processing speed through local hardware acceleration. To ensure smooth performance, your Mac should run macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or any newer release. While the application is fully compatible with Intel processors, it achieves peak Neural Engine efficiency on Apple Silicon chips (M1, M2, M3, or M4). You will need roughly 200 MB of free storage space for the app itself, alongside an additional 100 MB to 3 GB depending on which AI models you choose to install. For optimal execution, we recommend having at least 4 GB of RAM for basic models and 8 GB or more when running larger, precision-focused engines.

Installation

Installing Tscribe on your Mac takes less than a minute. Start by downloading the official installer package using the Download Free Trial button on our website. Once the download completes, locate the Tscribe.dmg file in your Downloads folder and double-click it to open the installation window. Simply drag the Tscribe application icon into your Applications folder shortcut. After the copying process finishes, you can eject the installer disk image and safely launch Tscribe directly from your Launchpad or Applications folder.

macOS Permissions

Because you are installing Tscribe directly from our website rather than the Mac App Store, macOS Gatekeeper may display a standard security prompt asking if you are sure you want to open the application. Tscribe is officially notarized by Apple to ensure malware-free code, so you can safely click Open to proceed. Additionally, when you import your first media file, macOS may request permission for Tscribe to read files from your local directories. Granting this folder access allows the app to load and transcribe your files locally on your machine.

Downloading Your First AI Model

When you open Tscribe for the first time, the onboarding window will prompt you to select an initial AI model, such as Small or English-Only, to power your transcriptions. Tscribe will then automatically download your selected model directly to your Mac's storage. Please note that an active internet connection is required only for this initial model download. Once the model file is stored on your drive, you can disconnect from Wi-Fi entirely and enjoy 100% offline transcription anywhere.
